My friend went to a brilliant martial arts club and practiced a style called . I decided to go along, because I wanted to learn how to myself, get a bit fitter and start to become healthy.

I asked her what to wear on the first night, and was told I could come in comfortable sports clothes, but I learned that people who keep practicing Shoto Budo wear a white uniform called a . (they looked like pajamas!) Some people wore shoes, but a lot of us trained with bare feet - luckily I has washed my feet before I came so they didn't smell too bad!

At first we got ready to do exercise by taking part in a . We did lots of different exercises (until my face turned pink!) and then split into different groups to train. I was with the beginner group, we were given our own to teach us martial arts. His name was Kevin and he wore a brown belt, he told us that the next colour of belt after his is .

We started off by learning some basic moves. We were shown how to do a punch, Kevin called this punch "". I liked thismove the best, even though Kevin told me I couldn't practice it on my wee brother!

We then went on to learn a sequence of moves that used this punch and a block, this practice was called . I found this quite hard at first, I kept turning the wrong way. But soon I got the hang of it!

Before long the hour was up, and it was time to go home. I can't wait to go back next week!
