Shoto Budo Great Scottish Run Team 2005

Weeks of training over.....shorts and shoes well worn in....SHOTO BUDO t-shirts at the ready..... and WE'RE OFF!

Along with several thousand other runners, taking part in The Great Scottish Run was a terrific experience. As the route headed out over the Kingston Bridge, the traffic jam made up of thousands of runners was a sight well worth the effort, on what was one of the hottest September days on record. Those of us who took part in the 10K were finished and well recovered in time to cheer on the efforts of the rest of the team who were participating in the 1/2 marathon, a gruelling 13+ miles in scorching hot sunshine.

There were cheers and smiles all round, as one by one our brave runners headed along Glasgow Green towards the finish line and a well earned 2005 medal. The important part is yet to come, as we now hound, (oops!), request! that all those who pledged to sponsor us for Childhood Leukemia, in memory of Vinnie, now pay up. We expect the final total should reach several hundred pounds. Thanks to all who have donated to this worthwhile cause.

Pauline Walmsley, September 2005
