Pauline began training in the mid 70’s and has a variety of experience
in different styles of martial arts. She is extremely interested in understanding
movement control, balance and perceptual skills.
As well as holding several coaching qualifications, Pauline also has a B.A.(Hons)
in Psychology, with her final year’s dissertation study involving
research into the visio-perceptual control skills of martial artists under
the guidance of Professor J. Thomson at the University of Strathclyde.
Trained in counselling skills (COSCA), this background, as you might expect,
lends itself to a very person centred approach, often evidenced in her teaching
style.
In addition to leading a successful club, Pauline is employed as a Health
Promotion Officer with GGNHSB and continuing her study of behaviour science,
in 2003 she sucessfully completed a NLP practitioner course with Sensory
Systems Ltd. Pauline was recently awarded an MSc in Health Psychology
at Stirling University.
Pauline origionally trained with KDS before the conception of Shoto Budo.
In addition to training and coaching in aerobics, exercise to music and
gym fit, she is also an experienced half marathon and 10K runner and a regular
practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, Shiatsu and Reiki.
